1.20.2009

.they go.

It's here.
Today.
All the bumper stickers
and the countdown clocks.
all the jokes about
01.20.09: Bush's Last Day.
Well,
here we are.
It's happening.

In 2005 (or 6, I can't remember)
I made a shirt
and it said
"Barack Obama 2008"
(it used up all my A's)
and I was wearing it
at Philadelphia 30th Street Station
going back to college after break.
I was standing there and people were
coming up to me
and saying "Yeah!"
In excitement.

On Saturday,
I headed back to Philadelphia
for a brief trip
coming into 30th Street Station
at the same time as
Obama.
I was cranky about the security
but really I wanted to see him
and it was closed to the
general public.

So there I was
and there he was
4 years later.
I'm out of college
and he's the President.

And I know I think almost
too highly of him
he is a politician
but I think highly of the
American people
to change
to help others
to be better.

I see him and see a
female President
a Latino President
an Asian President.
I see everyone getting married
and opportunities opening for so many
different people.

Not because of him
but because of us.

I'm still in shock. I didn't dance in the streets on November 4th because I assumed someone would pinch me and I'd wake up. Nope, it's real. Just, you know, don't fuck it up Obama.
